Spritmuseum

At Spritmuseum in Stockholm curious visitors can explore the cultural history of wine, aquavit and punsch in the old Galärskjulen (galley sheds) 16 and 17, which have been carefully re-designed to create a modern museum building.

Vin & Sprithistoriska Museet was created by the state monopoly company AB Vin- & Spritcentralen and was completed just in time for the company’s 50th anniversary in 1967. Since its relocation in 2012, from Dalagatan in central Stockholm to Galärskjulen on Djurgården, Vin och Sprithistoriska Museet has changed its name to Spritmuseum (Museum of Spirits), modernised its operation and adopted Absolut Art Collection on behalf of the Swedish state.

Dynamic collaboration

Lomar Arkitekter was responsible for the interior and building concept, while Input interior took care of procurement, co-ordination and delivery of all interior furnishings.

“We had good communication with Input interior throughout the project. They adapted to the dynamics of the project, which involved a large group of creative individuals creating a new destination for Stockholm,” says Pontus Lomar, from Lomar Arkitekter.

Much more than history

Spritmuseum is a place that tells the story of the Swedish history with alcohol and its cultural heritage. But it also houses a bar, restaurant, open-air dining area and shop as well as specially-designed tasting rooms.
