Stockholm Furniture Fair
Input interior summarizes Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2019
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is Scandinavia’s largest fair for interior design and lighting. New products and trends for the future are launched every year. Input interior’s trend spotting from the 2019 edition of the fair focus on furniture and lighting, as well as materials and colors.
Furniture and lighting
Among this years news was also several updates of existing product families. We are seeing an increase in awareness of environmental issues, something that could be seen in everything from recycled exhibition stands to improved material choices. Often the material’s shape and peculiarities had shaped the product’s design.
The furniture design was clearly characterized by soft lines, solid materials and a bit of flirt with the 70s design. One of Sweden’s largest interior design projects ever, the new National Museum, made a clear mark on the fair, as the products designed for that project now appeared at several exhibitors.
Colours and materials
The colour choices were imbued with muted colors and rich tones that leaned towards terracotta, brown and beige – prefereably in combination with more vivid colors such as shades of yellow and cobalt blue. The vivid colors were often mixed with a trendy colour, often called “greige”, a cool but warm mixture of gray and beige.
Materials were plenty and varied. Wood dominated, prefereably in smoked dark tones, and was complemented by everything from galvanized steel and leather to paper and concrete.
